AIDA, METROPOLITAN OPERA NEW YORK 2018
"More significantly, conductor Nicola Luisotti, best known as music director of the San Francisco Opera, gave the score a life-and-death emotional weight that easily equaled similar virtues heard from Riccardo Muti in the 2017 Aida broadcast from Salzburg. No matter what vocal struggles were or were not happening onstage, Luisotti made sure the big-picture elements of the opera itself were in the foreground. More than anybody at the Met that night, Luisotti made me believe in the opera all over again." - CLASSICAL VOICE NORTH AMERICA
FALSTAFF, ROYAL OPERA HOUSE COVENT GARDEN 2018
"Nicola Luisotti, the conductor, guarantees clean and sharp Italianate style and Carsen's handsome production is one of the Royal Opera's best.Altogether a summer delight! " - FINANCIAL TIMES
FALSTAFF, ROYAL OPERA HOUSE COVENT GARDEN 2018
" ...when the orchestra is called upon to crack instrumental jokes of its own, they are indeed forthcoming, thanks to Nicola Luisotti’s refined direction in the pit." - THE INDEPENDENT
LA BOHEME, ROYAL OPERA HOUSE COVENT GARDEN 2018
"... under the Italian Nicola Luisotti they were often inspired. Perhaps being sat in the fifth row from the stage, to the right of the orchestra pit, I was perhaps prone to a slightly more brass-heavy sound than usual - but the playing was transparent (the harp, for example, was entirely clear to me) and I can’t recall this orchestra playing Puccini with such lush, beautifully passionate playing. Luisotti neither lingered over the score, nor lost a grip on the drama and he supported his singers beautifully." - OPERA TODAY
